The Lydiard Legend Marathon in Auckland, NZ offers free entry to earthquake-ravaged runners.  Good on ya!

I was reading the UTMB's rules (geek alert) and noticed a very real section on PIDs.  First time I've seen that for an ultra. A harbinger for US ultras?

  1. It's very possible that I'm missing something obvious..... but I cannot for the life of me figure out what PID is. I am intrigued, and HAVE to know. I even read the UTMB rules to try to figure it out!! The only thing I know of that is abbreviated PID is pelvic inflammatory disease. And I can't see the correlation between ultrarunning and STD's.
